Rafael Benitez has done it again, this time helping Liverpool win the FA Cup in a match that ended Liverpool (3-1 on Penalties) 3-3 West Ham United. The hero of the day is Jose "Pepe" Reina who saved 3 of 4 penalties taken by West Ham players. A disapointing first half ended 2-1 to West Ham after a Jamie Carragher own-goal helped West Ham go 1-0 up.
In the second half, Steven Gerrad managed to equalise for Liverpool but West Ham went up again after a cross turned into a goal.With one minute left, another Classic Gerrad Volley equalised for Liverpool yet again, sending the match into Extra Time.
Reina did a spectacular last minute save, punching the ball into the post, rebounding into Sami Hyypia to clear, miss-kick by Hyypia followed by West Ham striker Reo-Coker to also miss-kick the ball, the ball rolling out.
It later went to Penalties. The only West Ham player to score from the spot was 40 year-old, Teddy Sherringham. The others were all denied by Reina while Liverpool scored 3 out of 4 kicks with only Hyypia's penalty saved by West Ham Goalkeeper, Hislop.
Final Score: Liverpool 3-3 West Ham (Liverpool win 3-1 on Penalties)
