Yesterday, i flew EuroHolidays Flight H1088, MWCR Owen Roberts Intl in Grand Cayman to Atlanta, Georgia, USA in a Boeing 757-200, 100% MTOW departure, used up almost the entire 7500ft runway, with a moderate 8-11 kt crosswind from my right, the plane kept yawing to the wind on the ground, no problem luckily, but after taking off for about 10 minutes, my FS hanged...for up to 8 minutes...freakin pissed at that time, but at least didnt crash to desktop!
Reached crusie altitude of 36000ft aka FL360, cruising at Mach 0.80. Marcus, my escort (in a Mirage 2000) disappeared lol, and when i reloaded servinfo, he was halfway through the flight, some escort XD. After cruising for about 30 minutes, decided to serve food and drinks to the passengers (at 4am in the morning!).
2 hours after departure, i approached Cecil(VQQ)VOR, entered the VQQ.SINCA3 Arrival, followed the VOR radials along the STAR, checked the METAR at KATL and set up for landing. Soon, I was on final about 20nm to the runway, full manual ils approach. There is a FS saying "If anything bad happens, it will be during finals when you're about to land", how true, not just on this occasion. Sammel called me on the phone, kept me on a while, i had to hastily tell him to call back later.
Whats more, on VERY short final, about over the Inner Marker, I was getting too low on the glide slope but not according to the PAPI lights (It was really high even though), to get the plane back on the glideslope, I leveled it out a bit, but just as i did that, i got into and above the glideslope, now i'm really high but at least not hot on final. Continued with the descent and flared, touched down right at the end of the touchdown zone, good thing for the RB211's powerful thrust and its thrust reversers! exitted the runway about 1/2 to 2/3 down the runway length and taxiing to my gate.
One other unlucky thing that happened was that when my FS reloaded the scenery about halfway into the flight, for some reason i got the "Engines on but beacon lights not on", set back 60 points...
One good thing that came out though was that i got the idea for the screenshot that i have entered for the competition from this flight! Hope i can finally get 1st!
